Below are just a few of the organizations that Brad and his wife, Cori, support. In their own way, each one changes the world in the best—and perhaps only—way possible: One day, one moment, one person at a time.
Incidentally, you’ll also notice many of these causes work their way into Brad’s novels (Big Brothers/Big Sisters in Dead Even; The Arc and NF in The First Counsel).
National Medal of Honor Museum Foundation
The National Medal of Honor Museum Foundation is a 501(c)(3) educational institution organized to design, fund, build and maintain the National Medal of Honor Museum and Education Center. Brad sits on the Board and is excited to see this amazing museum come to life.
Want to be inspired? Spend some time with CityYear. From painting over graffiti, to building urban parks, to serving as teachers’ aides in public schools, CityYear challenges its young volunteers to change the world on a daily basis. One of the few organizations smart enough to embrace the strength of idealism and the power of youth, this one’s got it all: Breaks social barriers, inspires civic action, and creates real leaders.
Big Brothers/Big Sisters
Matching kids with mentors since 1904, Big Brothers/Big Sisters is the nation’s oldest and largest youth mentoring organization. Today, it helps millions of children reach their full potential and fulfill their dreams.
The Arc is an incredible organization of and for people with mental retardation. Helps families, provides information, and fights the big fight by treating people with dignity and respect. Truly an amazing place.
American Cancer Society
The national organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem. Through research, education, advocacy, and service, it saves lives and reduces suffering. Also, a great place for general information for those who want to know they’re not alone.
The National Neurofibromatosis Foundation
A non-profit medical foundation dedicated to improving the health and well-being of individuals and families affected by the neurofibromatoses (NF), a little-known genetic disorder that’s worthy of far more attention.
Started by one of Brad’s dearest law school friends, it’s one of the few organizations in the world that focuses on YOUNG women with breast cancer. It’s also the place that truly helped Brad’s Mom when she was fighting her losing battle with the disease. They. Are. Awe. Sohm.
